What Released Time is all about…
PURPOSE – The purpose of Released Time Bible Education classes is to share God’s Word with boys and girls in the public schools and to assure them of His love and forgiveness through His Son Jesus Christ. Hundreds of students are enrolled annually in the classes in Placentia and Yorba Linda. For many, this is their only Bible study. Everyone is welcome.
CLASSES – Classes are 40 minutes long and held once a week. We meet during lunch and the children miss no school class time. The classes are held in a “Chapel-On-Wheels” mobile classroom which is parked off the school property. The Released Time Bible Education schedule is set-up in cooperation with the school office.
CURRICULUM – Bible study is taught using the New International Version of the Bible. The teachers make the Bible relevant to the students by encouraging them to let God’s Word make a difference in their attitudes and actions, by applying it to their lives and memorization of the Scripture. Our curriculum is “Through The Bible In A Year”, pulished by Standard Publishing and has been approved by the Realeased Time Bible Education Board, which consists of representatives from supporting churches in the community. Parents are able to review the curriculum at any time they wish.
TEACHERS AND ASSISTANCE – The Released Time teachers are Christians who have teaching experience and Bible training. All voluteers are background checked and fingerprinted through the Department of Justice and certified by the state of California & mantadory reporters. The teachers and helpers are hired with Board approval.
What is the meaning of Christian education ?
Christian education seeks to develop in growing persons an understanding and appreciation of the personality, life, and teachings of Jesus to lead them to a better personal experience. Christian education seeks to develop in growing persons a progressive and continuous development of Christian character.
What is the goal of Christian education?
Although the term Christian education does not occur in the Bible, the Bible speaks of the moral and spiritual instruction of believers in general and of children in particular. It places a high value upon knowledge, both of God and of His works.
For this reason, the primary goal of Christian education must be that students come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and that they grow as a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ!
